Anyone fancy an iPod?

Now this might sound a little bonkers, but apparently, you can get a free iPod by signing up on this web site. Now, there is a catch, it’s not free at all, you’ve got to spend at least £10 on a DVD rental site, and you’ve got to get 5 other people to sign up and do the same. However, even if you paid for them all, at £60, it’s still a cheap iPod. Naturally, if 5 people get into the spirit of it, and do it themselves, it’s only cost you a tenner for an iPod.

Being the skeptic I am, I thought I’d do a bit of checking out, so before I give you the link, check out this article on Wired News (new window). The BBC’s article (new window) on it, or even Geek.com’s article (new window).

Then, once you’ve done the research, and you’re ready to get yourself a tasty wee 20Gb photo iPod, click here (new window). Don’t go directly to the site, otherwise it won’t be counted that I’ve referred you, and then I won’t get my free iPod. :)

Porridge

I’m having a bit of a budget drive in advance of my travels, so this morning I popped along to Sainsburys and picked me up a 750g bag of organic porridge oats for less than a full pound, fantastic! A single squid will feed me many a hearty breakfast for weeks to come, and we’re talking 4 minutes in the microwave, I mean, it’s pot noodle easy. Pour oats, pour water, microwave, stir, microwave, how much simpler can you get?

If you haven’t tried it yet, it’s a revolution waiting to happen… :)

I’m a published author!

Yeeehaaa, it’s now official, I’m a published author!

Yesterday I received my very first payment for my very first book, it’s now official, I have been paid, nobody can dispute it, I have written a book that somebody has paid good money to read. Not a great deal of money, but money nonetheless. Fantastic!

It has started

I’ve just spent the best tenner I’ve spent in ages, ages! I bought the Rough Guide’s First Time Around the World. I’ve only read the first few pages and I had to phone a friend to share the pure ecstatic excitement I’m feeling. I’m litterally jumping up and down, I can barely keep my hands on the keys!

The planning has started, I had a meeting about re-mortgaging my flat today, and I’m going to hit the road, soon. I’ve been looking at luggage, oooooh Eagle Creek, ooooooh!

The time is now…

Shaving Oil

Calling all men… If you haven’t discovered shaving oil, you’ve been missing out, no really, you have!

I first discovered shaving oil last time when I spent some time in the army. Shaving had always been a bore, and pretty hard on my skin, and Iain Deane recommended that shaving oil was a great way to shave in the field. That and he recommended getting a small electric razor. Both I did. Used them together, and the result was … satisfactory.

However, just a couple of days ago, I tried using the shaving oil wet. It has instructions for wet and dry, but I’d never tried wet. Wow, what an experience. I normally only shave once or twice a week through laziness, but now, I don’t mind shaving, I love shaving, it’s a dream come true. Somerset Shaving Oil, thank you, I look forward to travelling the world with you!

I survived the party

I survived the all-night, outdoor party. The sun rose, we danced all night long, and it was fantastic!

I think we broke the 2pm record from last time, I reckon we left around 4, although my memory isn’t quite 100%! We were ambitiously aiming to go the beach after the party, but it didn’t happen, we crashed and burned hard!

Gleneagles Photos Online

My photos from the Gleneagles G8 protest are now online. You can see them here.

There are some great shots of the rioters clashing with the police. The rioters or so-called “anarchists” only made up a very small element of the protest, and in my opinion, smeared the whole event with unnecessary violence. I felt the greatest majority of people where at the march to protest, not to fight with police.

However, I’ll let the photos tell the story…
