My new case for my deliciously delicious iPod has just arrived (are you getting the obsessed with the iPod theme??) to ensure it’s fully protected at all times. However, the upshot of all this protection is that the beauty and splendour of the device are completely obscured from view. The case is jet black and covers literally every surface of the iPod. There’s even a plastic screen over the main screen to offer protection. What an odd concept.

I just watched my very first video on my brand spanking new iPod. It’s a great little screen, very bright, really easy to watch, you could easily watch a TV program or a movie on it, although it might get tiring having to hold the screen at the right angle. Great for my upcoming trip to Bangkok though, I’ll have to get some good movies and a few series of CSI ready!
Getting video onto the iPod is not quite as easy as getting music onto it. You can’t just pop in a DVD and rip it to your iPod. However, there is a great little program called Videora iPod Converter (new window) which will take video files on your PC and conver them to the right format for your iPod. To rip a DVD you first need to extract the video from the DVD and decrypt it, check out this tutorial (new window) and ignore the PSP section.
Once you’ve got the files in the right format it’s dead easy to get them onto the iPod, iTunes will sync them on, with similar options as for music files. Now to select some “appropriate” videos for iPod consumption… ![]()
I’ve known about this great little web site for ages, but I haven’t used it that much until recently. It’s a great wee tool. When you call a company on an 0870 number it will not be included in any fixed-price-for-all-calls deal on your landline or your mobile. So, before you make the call, visit SayNoTo0870 (new window) and enter either the phone no or company name, hit search, and it will search for an alternative, 01 or 02 number. All of this also goes for 0845 numbers.
It only works for companies and numbers which have been put into the system, so if you find a non-0870 or non-0845 number for a company, you can enter it on the site.
It’s official, I’m going to Thailand to meet up with my bro (new window), give him a whipping about getting a tattoo and then spend a few weeks travelling round south east Asia before meeting a mate in Thailand around new year.
My return flight is booked for September 2006, but I’m not sure if I’ll take it or not, I might head south to Oz or Nz first, it’s pretty easy to get a working holiday visa and they speak English which would make working a whole lot easier.
In the words of Matchbox Twenty (new window); Every new beginning is the end of another new beginning. Goodbye Edinburgh, hello world…
This weekend will go down in history as one of the biggest weekends ever. We had a party on Saturday night which kicked off about 9pm and got going by about midnight. We moved to the pub about 11am on Sunday and finished the day off in a jacuzzi at 6pm on Sunday night. Now that’s what I call a party!
The standard has been set, all future parties must now be measured against this benchmark. Thailand beckons…
What an outrage I hear you cry! Absolutely you hear me respond!
My lovely, sweet, sexy, gorgeous (can you tell I’m excited??) ipod has arrived. It’s all black and uber-cool (I may have made that word up!) and all the accessories are white! Come on Apple, you didn’t really think this whole black thing through did you? I mean, seriously?
I’m now gonna have to buy some equally uber-cool black headphones to match the uber-cool black ipod. That and a little, slinky case of course, I refuse to accept that my ipod will eventually get scratched, never I say, never, I’ll protect it with my life!
I received my first ever gift wrapped Amazon product yesterday. It’s dashed impressive I say. The wrapping was really well done, the tag very nicely printed, it really did feel like a personalised gift. They even go to the extend of putting the receipt in a nice envelope which says “Don’t spoil the suprise, open your gift first”. The devil’s in the detail…

Thanks to James and Nicola for the lovely wedding present, I thought I was supposed to buy them a gift! ![]()
