Finally, a long lie!

This morning, well, more appropriately, this afternoon, I had my first long lie in ages! I rolled out of bed at a relaxed midday, took one of the best showers I’ve had since leaving, and strolled downstairs to check in on the cyber world, grab some brekkie, and start thinking about some activity for the day.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve got some very important work ahead of me today. I’ve got to get a haircut, find a guidebook of south east Asia without spending a fortune, and then, err, maybe eat some food!

I’m not sure how long I’m going to last in Vietnam, well at least in Hanoi. Ever since we arrived in Vietnam I feel like everybody we’ve met is trying to screw us for something. You walk down the street and every second person is trying to sell you a taxi, a scooter ride, or otherwise extract American dollars from your grubby white mit!

My bro’s pals are heading south tonight on the night train. I think Fergus is staying in Hanoi, so we might head south by bus or train tomorrow. I’m not sure how many more times I can tell street vendors I don’t want to buy whatever they’re offering.

I’ve got a mountain of photos building up, so some time on the train would be ideal to sort through them, pick the best, and get them ready to stick on the web for all you lovely people to peruse.

Right, now I’m off to see if I can find me a haircut…

  1. I have been wondering how long it’ll be before you get robbed for your laptop… just watch that their clutching for dollars doesn’t turn nasty. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hey how’s it going?
Yeh I can totally relate to being a bit pissed of if your on the go all the time.Best bit about travelling is getting somewhere really nice and putting yer feet up for as long as you choose. Not being constantly on the move until your exhausted, especially in between big cities as they tend to epitomise everything bad about being in a poor country.Well that’s always been my experience of travelling.I always preffered smaller coastal places or in fact anywhere really but polluted cities where you get ripped of.Well good luck with the new haircut.I must admit I was a bit surprised you headed of without the lonely planet guide, the travellers bible itself.Brave move.Till next time take care and have fun.Gill.
