Blog Upgrades

My blog has been upgraded! Yes, it’s largely behind the scenes, so it’s unlikely you’ll notice any changes, but it is now running on the superly spankingly new version of WordPress (new window).

So if you spot any problems, please let me know…

Videos Coming Soon

I know you’re all excited about the impending arrival of my new digital camera. Well I’m sure you’ll be even more excited to learn that the camera can shoot little videos, and what’s more, I’ll be able to embed them in my blog. How very exciting! Thanks to the lovely service offered by YouTube.com for free, uploading and sharing videos should be a cinch. Here’s a wee sample to see if you’ll be able to view my videos when they start flowing…

Crazy or what?

Work in Bangkok

I may well have some work in Bangkok. I’ve had a couple of meetings with a guy who has a web site design and development company here and who is looking for some help to drive the business forward. It looks like there may be a good fit with my skills and experience, so who knows, I may end up staying in blessed Bangkok for a few months.

All my goodies have arrived back home so I’m now waiting for a parcel from home with all sorts of exciting things in it. You know, the usual, boxer shorts, a shirt, a top, a digital camera, just the usual junk! :)

Thailand’s Underground Economy

We’re at a birthday party tonight, a Thai girl turned 22 yesterday. She has a British boyfriend who sends her $500 US dollars a month. I wouldn’t describe it as her defining feature but it certainly funds her carefree, sleep all day lifestyle! Before you jump to judgement (if you were going to!), she’s like hundreds if not thousands of other Thai girls in Bangkok.

I can’t help but wonder what percentage of Thailand’s GDP is supported by $500 dollar a month payments from farang men. It’s equally commonplace in Cambodia as well.

It’s a crazy life…

A Cool Day in Bangkok

My dear darling dad has bought me a lovely little Canon SD200 aka Ixus 30 (new window) which will be winging it’s way to me in a matter of days. What does this mean I hear you cry? Pictures. Lots of pictures. Regular pictures. Crazy pictures. Much more frequent pictures on my blog. Ooh, I can feel the excitement in the air already.

It’s actually quite a cool day in Bangkok today. All that rain yesterday must have cooled the place down a bit. It’s nice to be out and feel a bit of a breeze. I remember reading Fergus (new window) talking about this sort of sensation in Singapore while I was at home. It somehow seemed totally alien and yet now it seems totally natural. Oh how times change. :)

First Game Completed

I finished our first game tonight. Sniper Elite has now been finished. I have joined the ranks of the elite! Don’t go messing with me, or you may find a bullet screaming 160m into your left eye in slow motion… Snipers are not to be messed with you know!

Now onto Star Wars…

Rain in Bangkok

It rained today. Not just a little shower, it really, really rained. I mean it poured. It bucketed down. It was raining cats and dogs as the saying goes. A torrential downpour. Ahh, the Scots have one or two words for it aye! :)

It’s the first rain I’ve seen in Bangkok and we’ve been here almost a month. I wondered where all the water came from, I was remarking on it just the other day!

It almost makes me feel at home. Although it’s still only t-shirt weather and I’m wearing shoes not wellies, so it’s not quite on a Scottish scale! But it rained all the same…
