Great Indian in Singapore

We ate at a fantastic restaurant last night in Singapore’s Little India. It’s called Banana Leaf, and they serve your food on a banana leaf instead of a plate! It’s great, you get your rice served right onto the leaf, then slap the dishes on top.

Great meal for my last night in Singapore, a big thanks to Ferg (new window) his hospitality.

  1. Callum! Why didn’t you eat with your hands instead of using silverware? You have to adapt to the locals! Well, the food is indeed very good!

  2. OMG! I went there once and ate at the Banana Leaf. It was really good but I was kinda freaked out because I have blue eyes and they were all like stareing at me. I was trying to look away because I was embarassed to look at them but I didn’t want to be rude.
    So, yeah…..

    Kikio

  3. hey guys you should have had that food with your hands…you would have experienced the real Indian food feel…i recommend you visit Mumbai and Pune to taste authentic banana leaf Brahmani food with a lot of historical places to visit as well..(land of the mighty warriors, saints and happy people)

  4. Compared to this place, I dont know why. Maybe its popular in some travel series on TV and printed in many tourist info booklets in all countries people flock to Banana Leaf Apollo restaurant in Race Course Road, Singapore. But in that same stretch of road, The best place to dine is Anjappar Authentic Chettinaad Cuisine restaurant. Its taste is similar to India. Pity foreignors dont know.

Moral of the story: When it comes to food, dont go by the books, go by the taste!
