You think you’ve got a good camera? Think it takes detailed pictures? Is it a few megapixels? 6 or 7 megapixels maybe? 10 you say. 12 I hear you cry. Wow, that’s pretty detailed. Oh, you’re a pro photographer, you have 25 megapixel camera that cost as much as a small car, wow, that’s impressive. Step aside I say and meet the Gigapixel Image (new window).
This crazy dude stitched 196 separate 6 megapixel images to create what he claims is the world’s only gigapixel image. If printed at photo quality, it would measure 15 feet wide! Now that’s a mighty detailed picture.
I’m delighted to announce that my dearest brother Fergus (new window) has joined the linux revolution, although he doesn’t know it yet! Well, come on, what did he expect, leaving his laptop in Bangkok while he went off galavanting, I mean, it was inevitable wasn’t it?
Honestly, who needs Windows anyway? It’s unreliable, expensive, difficult to manage, a pain in the rear all round. He’s better off without it I say. He might have some initial resistance (as you know, resistance is futile) but in time, he’ll come to appreciate my gift of electronic enlightenment…
Besides, he didn’t need all those photos and music and all that rubbish anyway, now he’s got lots of space for proper files on linux, oooh, beautiful. Moohahaha
For all you budding DJs out there, check out these little gems I discovered today. First to the floor, it’s OpenJay.org (new window), a site dedicated to the open source DJ. Amen. Swiftly following that little number, wrap your ears around this little peach, check out Mixxx (new window). It’s an open source DJing application.
Mixxx lets you blend two tunes together, just like on a regular mixing desk, with a whole bunch of PC only features that kick some ass! It’ll automatically work out the BPM of your tracks, and even sync two tracks together so you can effectively sit back and let it do the work for you. Genius. But even better than that, that’s right, you guessed it, it runs on Linux! It’ll run on any other inferior operating system you might choose as well, but the Linux support is the winner for me!
Enjoy…
Check this out, there’s a new range of gorgeous mac notebooks out called MacBooks. They’ve introduced a tiny little new feature which is simply ingenious, why had nobody thought of it before?

Instead of a traditional power plug, the new mac plug is magnetic. Why? So if you trip over the cable, it simply pops out instead of slamming your brand new thousand dollar mac onto floor! So simple, yet so darned useful. You gotta love macs! Check it out here (new window).
Not only that, now that they’re onto Intel processors, you could even install Linux on one of those gorgeous beasts. Hmm, tempting, I might just have to investigate that…
