Oh, you’re a pro photographer, you have 25 megapixel camera that cost as much as a small car, wow, that’s impressive. Step aside I say and meet the Gigapixel Image (new window).
This crazy dude stitched 196 separate 6 megapixel images to create what he claims is the world’s only gigapixel image. If printed at photo quality, it would measure 15 feet wide! Now that’s a mighty detailed picture.
You are always SO behind…. That canyon photo has long since been superceded: http://triton.tpd.tno.nl/gigazoom/delft2.htm . But then these are just stitched photos - In the medical world they’re at around 30-40Gp and pushing towards 1Tp rapidly.
