Hua Hin

I was at the beach in Hua Hin for this Constitution Day long weekend. There’s a little irony in the constitution day holiday given that Thailand is currently under some quasi-military-coup-rule-thingy-mabobby. However, I enjoyed the Monday holiday all the same!

The train down to Hua Hin was an estimated four and a half hours. The tickets looked quite cheap when we bought them, only to discover once we got on the train we had third class, no-air-con, standing only tickets, eeek. However, a rather helpful Monk informed us we could sit in the next row of seats reserved for monks.

The train journey down proved a great opportunity to get my camera out. I can’t remember the last time I had a serious photography session. A few choice snaps are now online, here’s a sample to whet your apetite…

Thailand Train to Hua Hin

The place we were staying was fantastic. It wasn’t until the second day when the gang arrived from Bangkok I realised we were actually staying right on the beach! Three shaped swimming pools, water slide (much amusement), gym (quite unused), it was great. Aside from the breeding mosquitos which managed to somehow get inside as soon as we arrived and plagued me for the weekend. Still, their extermination did bring a certain satisfaction… 🙂

All in all, a great weekend at the beach.

Edit: DOH, I forgot the link! The photos are here…
