@Callum: To be honest, I do not know. Compiz clashes with some of my other apps. I have also not really found that its “special effects” add much to my productivity. Its great for “demoing” Ubuntu, but I’m not sure for what else…

@Derek: With desktop effects (compiz) disabled, I can drag/drop windows on the workspace switcher, but with compiz enabled I cannot. Can you?

Not sure what you mean by “can’t drag / drop windows onto the workspaces” – you *can* drag/drop between windows using their icons/outlines on the workspace toolbar.
