Gut feeling? (For those of you who don't believe in such a thing...gut feelings that is...read "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell)

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

You're not in love, you're in lust. And logic is no way to decide your lifetime partner.

Don't do it.

I mean it.

Step away from the Marriage licence and put your hands on your head.

Re-visit in 6 months and see how you feel then.

My goodness!!! I'm all for it!

Just because you've not known someone a long time doesn't mean it won't last forever!

I met Tim one night while drunk on holiday in June in Portugal, and I knew from that moment on we'd be together for good. I left Edinburgh in September to live with him. We'd be married already except his Decree Absolute on his divorce is still pending! We got matching tattoos instead as we figured you could take a ring off...

And despite the romance it is practical too (he's a company director so is fairly solvent!!) so being practical is also an absolute must!!!

I'm so happy for you and glad you have found what sounds like a fairly epic lady.

Please put some pics up so we can all see!!!

kisses,

Lauren :)

First off, I think you're a legend.

But I have a stroooong opinion regarding marriage as a 'self-fulfilling' prophecy. I just see too many people getting married, thinking it would make things work that didn't work in the first place.

I also don't think marriage is about being practical. I CLEARLY saw my children in Althea's eyes early on. At some point, whether in the first hour, day or year, you need to look at the woman in your life and just KNOW.

Best of luck, Callum!

I sam, she is almost family.

And this "practical/good mother" stuff, seems so beyond giving up on giving a shit about the joys that life can bring that it makes me uneasy. Surely a good natured hoax for your collective friends?

Should it happen, I wish you all the best.
If you hurt my friend I know at least 15 people who will line up to skull fuck you through your eye socket.

It's not the way I look at marriage, but at least I agree that it's hard work to keep up a relationship - so there should at least be some fun and romance in it, not just practical reasons.
I don't believe relationships last forever anyway, so when you are getting married out of a mood - always keep in mind that divorce is expensive ;-)
But anyway, good luck to you and your wife-to-be.

Congrats! I'm not sure if it's best to ask fellow bloggers if you should do it or not though haha. From my personal experience, I dated my gf for 3 years travelling back and forward from England > Hong Kong every couple of months..it was tough! Then lived together after. She asked me to marry, we did 3 days later...I found not preparing for it and just doing it was the way to go as we didn't know what to expect.

Living together is certainly an experience though and I'd recommend to all those interested in getting married, you will find each other's "pet peves" and annoyances.
