George and my crew at SmartHippo organised a R1′000 dinner at Savoy Cabbage (their web site is being updated I’m told). I worked miracles a few weeks ago in producing some truly mind blowing javascript (at least it blew my mind). The dinner was a thank you for working an outrageous number of hours to get the code live on time.
I took 3 friends and we all ate well. I had a beef tartare starter and a springbok main. I figured I would try the South African icon! Then the most wonderful chocolate pancakes for dessert. My word they were good. Our bill came to R1′034, or within 4% of target!
Thanks guys.
As I suspected, my application for Y Combinator was not successful this time. In some ways, I’m relieved, I’m not sure if I was ready for the commitment of a full-on startup. So now I have time to focus on my work with SmartHippo and see what else I want to develop.
Any ideas for web based, remote businesses are most welcome!
SmartHippo is in the paper today, it’s in French, but hey, any press is good press!
It’s confirmed. The contracts are signed, the flights are booked, I’m going to Montreal. I fly on Monday 8 October. I’ll be working with ReflexCRM on SmartHippo, a social network for financial products.
