  1. Free app to mirror an OSX hard drive onto an external disk, which can, I think, then be booted from. Not possible with time machine, that requires a recopy.
  2. Alternative to CrashPlan. Seems nice, same price (near enough) but will delete external drive files after 30 days. Sucky.
  3. How to install bash completion on OSX from homebrew (and macports). Very handy.
  4. AWESOME! Adds a quick look option to see inside zip files. Just copy to /Library/QuickLook and then press space on a zip file, genius, simple, should be part of OSX.
  5. Handy equivalent to baobab on Mac. Analyses disk usage and presents it in a much more useful way than GrandPerspective with it's tree thing. Very handy. Not free(dom) but free (beer).
  6. Useful mac app that enables keyboard shortcuts to resize and position windows Handy. Might not be necessary in addition to BetterTouchTool though.
  7. Great little application which enables (very seamlessly) USB tethering on a mac for android devices. Beautiful. Open source
  8. Very useful guide on how to setup dnsmasq on OS X. Weird stuff with /etc/resolver/tld whereby the resolver is only used for a particular domain. Useful in some ways, weird in others.
  9. Package containing the adb and fastboot binaries and a handful of simple shell scripts to drop them into the appropriate places on mac / linux. Nice.
  10. Simple fix on how to enable home / end / pgup / pgdn on OSX terminal. Map keycodes home 33OH end 33OF pgup 33[5~ pgdn 33[6~ in Terminal > Settings > Terminal. :-)

  11. Guake like terminal for OSX.
  12. Open source GPL app that will analyse disk usage on OSX.
  13. Tutorial on how to have launchd automatically run scripts (such as rysnc) when USB devices are plugged in, automated backup when a USB drive is plugged in for example.
  14. Tutorial on how to set up OSX to automatically backup when a USB drive is plugged in. Neat.
  15. Window based alt-tab instead of application based alt-tab for the mac, at a cost of $14. Interesting...
  16. Exposes additional preference settings for OSX allowing things like sloppy focus (activate window on mouseover) and probably other cool stuff. Must have.
  17. Great little (free, beer) app for OSX that shows detailed battery information.
  18. $5 app for OSX that pops up the iOS style cut copy paste options above any selected text. Supports an MIT licensed extension system. Might support auto-copying, if not, probably easy enough with an extension.
  19. Good wee article on lifehacker hilghlighting 10 underrated mac apps worth having. A few are free, and some seem worth checking out.
  20. Install this, prey, on phone (and laptop?). It's remote wipe, track, etc software, and it's free up to 3 devices apparently.
  21. Simple clipboard buffer (keeps a clipboard history). Not quite select / middle click, but a step in the right direction.
  22. A must have mouse customisation app for OSX which is free (as in beer?). Includes awesomeness like snap windows to positions and other genius. Looks outstandingly useful.
