  9. Bot Sentry is a Pidgin (libpurple) plugin to prevent Instant Message (IM) spam. It allows you to ignore IMs unless the sender is in your Buddy List, the sender is in your Allow List, or the sender correctly answers a question you have predefined.
  10. The comment referrers plugin stores the HTTP referrer field when a comment is submitted and then adds it to the comment in the admin / email view. Helps to identify spam.
  11. Controlled Mail is an outbound mail service (SMTP provider) with a very strong focus on genuine mail delivery. They accept no bulk mailings whatsoever and support SPF and DKIM by default. They also prevent cross client forgery.
  12. WP-HashCash implements the hashcash approach to spam prevention as a WordPress plugin.
  13. WP-SpamFree uses a combination of javascript, cookies and algorithmic approach to apparently cut out spam. Requires zero config, totally cache compatible. It tells the user if the comment has been blocked, which is very handy.
  14. Defensio is a comment spam prevention service, similar to Akismet. It's from a company based in Montreal.
  15. Hashcash is an anti-spam technology which requires the sender to compute a partial hash collision (which takes a predictable amount of time) in order to "pay" for their email. On the flipside, it's very easy to verify the hash.
